Questions

What families ask us

How does admissions work?

Families visit, apply, and the student spends a morning in class. The office calls within two weeks of that morning.

Can we visit before we apply?

Yes, and we ask you to. An open house runs in October and again in January, and the office can set up a morning visit on a school day. Students are welcome to come along.

What is a day like?

It opens with prayer and a song, then Bible, reading and math before recess and lunch. The afternoon has science, history, art or music, and ends with a prayer and dismissal.

Who is welcome at the school?

Families from many churches are welcome, and so are families who do not belong to one. All families who want what we teach are welcome to apply.

What are chapel and Bible lessons like for a child?

Chapel is a short gathering on Monday mornings with songs, a story and a prayer. Bible lessons are part of each day's schedule, taught by the class's own teacher in plain words.

How big are the classes?

Two grades share each classroom, and every teacher knows every child in the room by name.

How does tuition work, and how do we ask about financial aid?

Tuition is set by grade band, and the office gives its figures at a visit. Financial aid is available, and the office can talk with families who pay with a state scholarship.

What about lunch, uniform and phones?

Families send lunch, and the school provides water. Children wear a school polo and navy bottoms from the list the office gives you. Phones stay in a basket in the office and go home at the end of the day.

Is there before or after care?

After care runs from dismissal until 5:30 p.m. on school days and is billed by the month for the days a family uses. Doors open at 7:45 a.m. for early arrivals.

How does the school talk with families?

A conversation before the first day, a short note home each week and a longer meeting twice a year. The principal answers the office phone when she can.
